The long and winding (sea)road

When we left our heroes last time, it was mid-May and our ship was still a mystery. But then we found it – the Maersk Semakau, and so we started tracking it by way of free apps. It wandered, seemingly aimlessly, certainly slowly, around Qingdao, Yokahama, Shanghai, Hong Kong and eventually turned south, destination Botany (Sydney) to arrive around May 30. Maersk then rescheduled it so that meant Sydney June 5. But, finally moving closer. It’s made it to Australian waters as per the map below…but today, we have an unconfirmed re-routing to Melbourne first and then to Sydney June 13! Frustrating.

Creeping closer, but to where?

Melbourne is still in Covid lockdown as I write so, just maybe, there’ll be yet another re-scheduling and ATGANI will come to Sydney first. When it does finally arrive, it will take around 2 weeks to get it completely ready for handover. As we’ve only paid a bit of money so far, we’re hoping that encourages them to move it along for us (and them).

Even more exciting, our expensive (and hopefully wonderful) self-levelling equipment will be ready to fit when the van arrives. We’re told that an awning has been found. We’ve put fancy new all-terrain tyres on the tug and have bought just about everything we think we might need. The flat is not yet rented but we’re hopeful. Once again, what could possibly go wrong?
